"When children and families from Antofagasta come to this place, they encounter the opportunity to observe and directly interact with native flora and fauna, while learning about farming and cultivation - something difficult to experience these days, for those who live in the city. The Gen Farm makes it possible to learn about the origin of our daily-consumed products such as vegetables, and the visitor is able to learn about livestock and nature, in surroundings pleasant for gatherings and recreation that stimulate the community feeling.”
Our environment influences our dreams. It is therefore necessary to generate awareness about the importance and benefits of the green areas and public spaces, and how these can improve our quality of life. Many citizens from Antofagasta do not have enough access to public spaces of recreation. A great portion of the few plazas that exist are either abandoned or simply neglected by maintenance. Additionally, these spaces gradually become micro landfills and in worst cases areas of violence and drug trafficking.

The weather of the Atacama Desert, the most unfertile and barren in the world, makes it difficult to enjoy outdoor activities. In this case, spaces located in the shadows are an essential issue for any settlement.
