Foundation Dogon Education (Stichting Dogon Onderwijs, SDO) was founded in 1995 by architect Joop van Stigt. The mission of SDO is to establish regional development in central Mali where, among others, the people of the Dogon live. In the past SDO set up projects for water supply, dams and schools. Meanwhile, the field widens towards projects for creation of curricula, restoration of World Heritage, improving infrastructure, building health centres, onions homes, homes for teachers and more. SDO is a small and effective foundation with three board members and five other members. It plays a role in the selection and preparation of projects, advises on the implementation and raises funds to finance projects.
